Although members of
of the Sierra Foothills (SISF)
are only able to meet via
Zoom, they were each
thrilled to continue their
annual tradition of
preparing Valentine’s Day
cards for those who receive
Meals on Wheels.
Each SISF member took time to prepare a number of greetings to be delivered with this year’s Valentine’s Day meals.
Everyone enjoyed hearkening back to grammar school days to painstakingly choose the right cards or to design and make cards perfect for the recipients. Some went so far as to include candies, while others presented them elaborately, and decorating them with stickers, ribbons, and bows.
The goal was for each of the 280 meal recipients to feel special on this Valentine’s Day, especially due to the crazy times we are currently experiencing.
SISF Awards Live your Dream Award
Ashley Carpenter is this year’s Soroptimist International of the Sierra Foothill’s Live Your Dream recipient.
Carpenter is a single mother of two children, ages eight and ten, and is working hard toward becoming an RN, while also working as a Certified Nurses Aid (CNA) at a Care Center. She is currently working in their Covid-19 Unit.
She has finished the prerequisites for nursing school and obtained an Associate’s Degree in pre-nursing. She has been accepted into the American River College nursing program and will begin classes in January. She ultimately plans to obtain her BSN with CSU Sacramento’s merger program at the same time.
